About the position
The Part-Time Climbing Wall Manager at Lafayette College is responsible for overseeing the indoor climbing wall operations, teaching climbing techniques, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for climbers, primarily students. This role requires working two days a week during the academic year, focusing on instructing belay classes and training student staff.
Responsibilities
- Teach belay classes to students.
- Maintain rope logs for climbing activities.
- Train student staff on climbing safety and techniques.
- Curate a safe climbing experience for all participants.
- Coach climbers, predominantly students, to improve their skills.
- Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all climbers.
Requirements
- CWI Level 1 certification required.
- Demonstrated ability to climb at least 5.8.
- Willingness to obtain CWI Level 2 certification.
- CPR/AED & First Aid certification (provided at no cost to the employee).
