Part Time Cashier

About the position

The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise. This role requires a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware, greeting customers, and ensuring a friendly and efficient checkout experience. The Cashier will also assist in maintaining the front end appearance and upkeep of the store, ensuring that all areas are neat and clean, and that merchandise is properly stocked and displayed. Additionally, the Cashier is expected to embody the company's core values of Service, Passion, Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store, thanking them by name when possible.
• Maintain a friendly, outgoing demeanor while working with customers and associates.
• Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
• Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly and courteously.
• Communicate any issues requiring management assistance.
• Build product knowledge and assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.
• Follow all cash register transaction procedures and balance the register drawer.
• Adhere to Store Support Center programs or promotions at the cash registers.
• Participate in store and Cashier meetings.
• Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean.
• Assist with stocking and facing impulse counters and rotating merchandise as seasons change.
• Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.
• Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
• Assist with decorating the front end according to Store Support Center programs.
• Call for cart pickups when necessary.
• Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.

Requirements

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Cashier experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25lbs), and climb.
