About the position

The Part-time Cafeteria Attendant plays a crucial role in the Food and Nutrition Services department by assisting in the preparation, serving, and cleaning of food in a school cafeteria setting. This position is responsible for ensuring food safety and sanitation while maintaining a pleasant working environment. The attendant reports directly to the Cafeteria Manager and is expected to perform various tasks efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Cooking the food
  • Safe preparation and handling of food
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities
  • Serving of food
  • Assisting with record keeping
  • Attending training meetings as required
  • Reporting to work as scheduled and signing the posted time sheet
  • Notifying the manager and main office when unable to work
  • Maintaining pleasant working relations with fellow employees
  • Following all policies of the School Committee and instructions of the Cafeteria Manager
  • Portioning food and cleaning kitchen equipment
  • Setting up serving counter and serving food on line
  • Washing dishes, trays, flatware, pots, pans, and utensils
  • Washing dining room tables
  • Unpacking supplies and assisting with stocking storage shelves
  • Operating equipment properly and maintaining safety standards

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate
