About The Position

Valley View Innovation School, a PK-8 school serving PK-6, specializes in supporting students who are identified as gifted and talented or are ready for advanced and accelerated learning opportunities. The school's vision is for each student to develop a curiosity about learning, discover their interests and passions, and grow in their love of learning by providing a welcoming, joyful, safe, and supportive learning environment. Projects in the six Immersion Studios (robotics, technology, culinary arts, art, music, and science) incorporate multiple standards and build cross-curricular connections. This position assists teachers with instructing students, reinforcing materials and skills, implementing curriculum, maintaining technology, and/or managing student behavior and/or needs in specialties such as Title I, Bilingual/Multicultural, Classroom, Health Care Management, or Computer Technology.

Requirements

  • AA Degree or have passed State Approved Assessment
  • 0-2 years' experience working with children in a school setting
  • Basic English, grammar, spelling, writing, word processing, keyboarding, basic computer skills, communication, and/or foreign language skills
  • Mandatory Title IX training required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Training in computers or bilingual education, languages, and/or culture
  • Special Education assignments may require training from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) on non-verbal de-escalation and physical restraint
  • Experience in health care
  • Experience working with children with various learning and physical disabilities
  • Experience working on/with networks, network management, and/or integrated learning and application
  • Operating knowledge of general Health care procedures
  • Operating knowledge of general office equipment
  • First Aid and CPR certifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with implementing lesson plans
  • Maintain classroom environment
  • Reinforce skills and materials
  • Administer, score, and/or record tests and grades
  • Evaluate students and/or program
  • Prepare instructional materials
  • Develop work schedules
  • Perform clerical duties
  • Maintain files, records, and/or progress reports
  • Supervise students to and from classroom and/or buses, on field trips, on playground, in computer lab, and/or during other activities
  • Prepare classroom or learning environment with needed supplies and materials
  • Tutor students
  • Lead activities of class and/or small groups
  • Assist students with understanding and reinforcing skills and materials in their native language
  • Support parents by interpreting at school functions and/or by providing student progress information
  • Assist with student health care, including administering first aid, caring for bathroom needs, dispensing medication, assisting with medical needs, executing health care directives, conducting health screenings, maintaining health records, and ordering/stocking medical supplies
  • Assist with maintaining, monitoring, and/or managing computer technology, including workstations, computer labs, servers, software, networks, troubleshooting, data backups, and equipment maintenance
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the building technology plan and technology budget
  • Attend appropriate in-services, building meetings, training, and/or school functions
  • Assist with lunch supervision
  • Perform other duties as assigned
