About The Position

Welby Community School of the Arts, PK-6, is an Expeditionary Learning (EL) school that uses the arts to inspire a love for learning and build a solid foundation for future academic success in each child. The arts lens at Welby is driven by discovery. Students are supported in their creative adventures by high-quality teachers and encouraged to be curious. Each year, Welby students demonstrate their learning with a unique performance or showcase, including a variety of art (sculptures, 2D), music (Battle of the Bands, concerts), and performances (plays, film festivals), and more. This position assists the teacher with instructing students, reinforcing materials and skills, implementing curriculum, maintaining technology, and/or managing student behavior and/or needs in one of the following specialties: Title I, Bilingual/ Multicultural, Classroom, Health Care Management, or Computer Technology.

Requirements

  • AA Degree or have passed State Approved Assessment
  • 0-2 years' experience working with children in a school setting
  • Basic English, grammar, spelling, writing, word processing, keyboarding, basic computer skills, communication, and/or foreign language skills
  • Mandatory Title IX training is required by the Colorado Department of Education and for all public school employees. Title IX training addresses harassment, discrimination, and bullying. Completing these mandatory Title IX training courses ensure we are meeting state requirements while continuing to foster a culture of safety and belonging across our schools. You will have two mandatory training courses that must be completed within 30 days of your date of hire and are required to be completed on your own time.

Nice To Haves

  • May require training in computers or bilingual education, languages, and/or culture
  • Special Education assignments may require training from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) on non-verbal de-escalation and physical restraint
  • May require experience in health care; working with children with various learning and physical disabilities; or working on/with networks, network management, and/or integrated learning and application
  • Operating knowledge of general office equipment preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certifications may be required

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining files, records, and/or progress reports
  • Supervising students to and from classroom and/or buses, on field trips, on playground, in computer lab, and/or during other activities
  • Preparing classroom or learning environment with needed supplies and materials
  • Tutoring
  • Leading activities of class and/or small groups
  • Assisting students with understanding and reinforcing skills and materials in their native language
  • Supporting parents by interpreting at school functions and/or by providing student progress information
  • Assisting with student health care, including administering first aid to ill or injured children; caring for bathroom needs; dispensing medication; assisting with medical needs; executing health care directives related to tube feeding, monitoring diabetes, and other situations; conducting health screenings; maintaining health records, logs, reports, and evaluations; and ordering and stocking medical supplies
  • Assisting with maintaining, monitoring, and/or managing computer technology, including IBM-compatible standalone workstations, computer labs, server, software, network, software licenses, troubleshooting, data backups, service and maintenance agreements, inventory and warranty information, replacement parts, software manual library, computer equipment usage, and/or computer-generated course/grade/attendance reports
  • Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the building technology plan and technology budget
  • Attending appropriate in-services, building meetings, training, and/or school functions
  • Assisting with lunch supervision
  • Performing other duties as assigned
