About the position

The Paraprofessional - Resource position at Gilbert Public Schools is designed to assist in the instruction of special needs students under the supervision of a certified teacher. This role involves supporting students in both regular and special education classrooms, helping them achieve their academic goals through individualized attention and tailored strategies. The position is part-time, with a total of 3.5 hours per day, and is available for a 9-month term.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments in subjects such as math, reading, and writing.
• Confer with teachers, parents, and health professionals to evaluate student progress and implement behavioral objectives.
• Establish positive relationships with students to build confidence and self-esteem.
• Implement special strategies to improve students' academic success based on their individual needs.
• Monitor students to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Participate in recording and reporting data for the MIPS program to meet requirements.
• Attend team meetings and workshops to share and receive information about the program.
• Support teachers and counselors with clerical functions and record keeping.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic math and English skills.
• Entry-level experience with less than 1 year in a related field.
