About the position

The Paralegal position at State Farm involves supporting the in-house counsel team, specifically within the BI/UM sector. The role requires knowledge of insurance defense discovery and litigation procedures, as well as local court rules. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, technological proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, paperless environment. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for both in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with file handling using knowledge of discovery and litigation processes.
• Draft routine pleadings, discovery, motions, and other documents as assigned by attorneys.
• Collect and review medical records in assigned files, utilizing understanding of medical terminology and typical injuries.
• Develop skills in trial presentation technology to assist attorneys in trial preparation and presentation.

Requirements

• Prior litigation or paralegal experience is required.
• Paralegal degree/certificate/certification, medical training, or relevant coursework or legal studies degree is required.
• 3+ years of paralegal discovery and trial experience, preferably in insurance defense.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in plaintiff's personal injury cases will be considered.
• Strong software and technological skills.
