About The Position

WinnCompanies is searching for a Painter to join our team to support multiple properties totaling up to 2,4000 units throughout the Greater Chicago Area. In this role, you will be responsible for painting apartments, common areas and exterior in accordance with company standards. This role is part of a dedicated 4-person turnover team focused solely on vacant apartment unit make-readies across multiple properties in the Greater Chicago Area. Assignments will be scheduled by ownership and management and prioritized based on property needs, vacancy timelines, and inspection results. This is a non-union position focused on unit turnovers only — no capital projects or occupied-unit work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • A current driver's license in good standing and ability to meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy.
  • Willingness to travel site-to-site to support multiple properties throughout the Greater Chicago Area.
  • Lead-based and mold certifications required.
  • Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint and sealants for different applications.
  • Knowledge of multiple painting methods, including brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
  • Lead-Based Paint (RRP) certification required.
  • Mold Remediation / Mold Awareness certification required.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination to ensure respirator health and capacity if working on a property that paints with sprayers.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in affordable housing, multifamily, or apartment turnovers/make-readies.
  • Experience with drywall patching, caulking, and minor wall repairs.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for routine painting of apartments, common areas and community office and exterior in accordance with schedule issued by management.
  • Apply paint texture to ceilings and walls using an air texture applicator and hopper.
  • Ensure proper protection of unpainted surfaces through the use of drop cloths/tarps, tape and masking and paint shields.
  • Responsible for maintaining an inventory of paint and supplies and all equipment in as clean and neat a condition as possible.
  • Attend trainings, workshops and meetings as position requires.
