About The Position

Aecon is focused on identifying, attracting, and hiring talented and diverse workers to work in their Cambridge Fabrication Shop and is currently seeking a Painter to support projects at this facility. Successful applicants must become members of the United Association union local 527 as a Metal Trades Worker.

Requirements

  • Must become members of the United Association union local 527 as a Metal Trades Worker.
  • Ability to use stairs, ladders.
  • Ability to work extended hours when required, occasionally in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs independently.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions using power tools and blasting equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, as required, in all seasonal and weather conditions.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators, protective clothing, gloves, hearing protection, and eye protection.

  • WHMIS Certification is an asset.
  • Overhead Crane Training is an asset.
  • Forklift Training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to spray using conventional, airless, and plural equipment.
  • Be able to prepare materials for spray application: i.e., mask, sand, clean.
  • Be able to read and understand drawings / dimensions.
  • Be able to follow coating technical data sheet specifications.
  • Be able to use wet film and dry film gauges.
  • Have familiarity in all types of coatings, i.e., zincs, epoxies, polyurethanes, etc.
  • Operate hand and power tools of all types.
  • Handle material using forklifts, overhead cranes, buggies and carts.
  • Receive and identify incoming material.
  • Clean and prepare shop areas.
  • Assist other craft workers.
  • Be willing to learn new skills as Aecon will provide training for this position.
