About the Opportunity We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and professional Paint Prep Technician to support our manufacturing operations in Livingston, TX. This role is essential to ensuring that surfaces are properly prepared for painting, maintaining quality standards, and supporting a smooth production workflow in a fast-paced industrial environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in painting, surface preparation, or industrial/ manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools, sanding equipment, and surface preparation techniques.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, sanding equipment, spray systems, and paints/coatings preferred; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on surface quality and finish consistency.
  • Safety conscious with the ability to follow all company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for surface prep and minor repairs.
  • Basic computer skills for completing checklists, documentation, and training modules.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and applying primers or other pre-coat materials.
  • Mix and apply paints, coatings, and sealants according to specifications, ensuring proper coverage and finish quality.
  • Perform minor repairs and surface touch-ups, including filling, smoothing, and prepping imperfections.
  • Operate hand tools, sanding equipment, and spray systems safely and effectively.
  • Follow established safety protocols, including proper ventilation, PPE usage, and handling of chemicals and coatings.
  • Complete painting and prep checklists accurately to support quality assurance and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of painting projects.
  • Monitor inventory of prep and painting supplies, reporting shortages or issues to supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to assisting in plant organization.
