About the position

This position is responsible for supporting the packaging design process by reviewing new products and identifying existing packaging solutions that may be repurposed. This role involves validating packaging assemblies, creating accurate packaging Bills of Materials and ensuring that all relevant information is properly documented and maintained in company databases. The role will work closely with the New Product Launch Team to verify the suitability of packaging solutions during product verification trips and collaborate with senior Packaging Engineers when new packaging designs are required. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that packaging meets all necessary standards and functions effectively throughout the product launch process.

Responsibilities

  • Review newly designed products to determine if existing packaging assemblies can be utilized.
  • Package units using identified assemblies to confirm suitability and performance.
  • Develop accurate packaging Bills of Materials for approved packaging assemblies.
  • Ensure all relevant information is correctly documented and entered into the appropriate databases.
  • Release and manage packaging information in the company's databases.
  • Work with the New Product Launch Team during verification trips to identify and resolve any packaging-related issues.
  • Collaborate with Packaging Engineer team to support the design and testing of new packaging solutions.
  • Assist in the preparation and testing of new packaging assemblies to validate they meet ISTA standards.
  • Provide feedback on packaging performance and suggest improvements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting packaging concerns and providing timely solutions.
  • Communicate design changes and evaluation plans with manufacturing plants and distribution centers.
  • Responsible for recording all measurements and weights for new products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, with 1+ years of relevant work experience.
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of packaging process, materials, and testing methods.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standardized procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with databases and data entry.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
  • Up to 25% travel required.
