About the position

The Packaging Operator works under the general direction of the Packaging Supervisor and coordinates the activities of Packaging Operator Trainees. This role is responsible for the total operation of all manual, semiautomatic, and automatic packaging lines, including quality control, material procurement, line setup, adjustment of product within specifications, light preventative maintenance, and necessary communications to operate the line. The operator may also train other packaging employees, ensure proper procedures are followed, and maintain a smooth flow of production in the work area. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the operation of the department with a focus on GMPs, quality control, safety, and production control, as well as managing the movement and documentation of components and finished products.

Responsibilities

• Total operation of manual, semiautomatic, and automatic packaging lines and powder presses.
• Quality control, material procurement, line setup, and adjustment of product within specifications.
• Light preventative maintenance and necessary communications to operate the line.
• Train Packaging employees and observe work to ensure proper procedures are followed.
• Assist other packaging employees as needed.
• Maintain GMPs, quality control, safety, and housekeeping.
• Attend training programs to maintain high standards.
• Cooperate with management in process improvement.
• Changeover of a line, including sanitization of parts.
• Manage movement, documentation, and supply of components and finished products.
• Perform all duties of a Packaging Operator.
• Maintain ongoing upkeep of the line including housekeeping.
• Inform supervision of irregularities.
• Perform all other work relative to Packaging as directed.

Requirements

• Experience and knowledge of specific production/processing areas, machinery, and product items.
• Ability to work within a team environment.
• Must wear all proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Knowledge of and capability to work with all products including current and promotional products.
• Capability of lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to perform repeated bending, lifting, and standing for long hours.
• Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Ability to work off shifts, including overtime.
• High School education or GED equivalency preferred.
