About the position

The Pacific West Conservation Crew Member position with American Conservation Experience (ACE) is designed for young adults interested in pursuing careers in resource management and conservation. Members will engage in meaningful conservation projects across various locations in California, including national parks and coastal state parks. This role offers hands-on experience in ecological restoration, habitat improvement, and trail maintenance, while also providing opportunities for personal and professional growth within a supportive community of peers and mentors.

Responsibilities

• Serve in professionally supervised teams on conservation projects.
• Participate in habitat restoration and trail construction.
• Engage in dry and wet stone masonry and reforestation efforts.
• Conduct forest thinning and invasive species removal.
• Perform plant identification and fencing tasks.
• Utilize various tools and equipment for trail maintenance and restoration.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
• Ability and willingness to work in a group.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Capability to hike moderate distances on rough terrain.
• Pass a required three-part criminal history check.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in hiking and navigation in steep terrain.
• Strong desire to enter the conservation field as a natural resource professional.
