About the position

The Overnight Team Leader at Meijer is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of various store departments during the overnight shift. This role involves mentoring and coaching team members, ensuring exceptional customer service, and implementing strategies to drive sales while maintaining store standards. The leader will also focus on staffing, training, and promoting a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily operations within various departments.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for all team members.
  • Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
  • Maintain store appearance and product presentation according to company standards.
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous and efficient service.
  • Responsible for staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
  • Promote succession planning and identify development needs for team members.
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations for discharge.
  • Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and maintain shrink for the department.
  • Model exceptional customer service and communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
  • Ensure team members are thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs.
  • Promote a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience.
  • One year of management experience.
  • Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, and deli is helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clear directions to team members.
  • Ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decision-making.
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling techniques.
  • Ability to lead a safe working environment.
  • Successful completion of all required certifications.
