About the position

The Outside Sales Parts & Service Representative at Stewart & Stevenson is responsible for selling parts and services across various industries including trucking, marine, construction, and oil and gas. The role focuses on generating new customer accounts, maintaining existing relationships, and achieving sales goals to maximize profitability and growth in the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Generate new customer accounts and maintain existing accounts.
  • Analyze customer needs and determine how company products and services can meet those needs.
  • Achieve sales goals and forecasts as established by the department and organization.
  • Assist in marketing and selling new products to the existing marketplace.
  • Review completed jobs for variations in component costing.
  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, production, and purchasing departments to oversee project development.
  • Monitor sales orders to ensure project costs and delivery schedules meet specifications.
  • Compute installation or production costs and prepare bid specifications for customers.
  • Negotiate proposals and sales contracts with customers.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships within the petroleum industry.
  • Plan and organize sales strategy.
  • Expedite resolution of customer problems and complaints.
  • Ensure effective market share of products and services.
  • Attend sales and trade meetings to gather market information.
  • Demonstrate and explain the use of installed equipment and production processes.
  • Arrange for installation and test-operation of machinery.
  • Evaluate sales performance results.
  • Provide management with reports on customer needs and market conditions.
  • Conduct all business transactions ethically.
