About the position

The Distributor Sales Consultant (DSC) is an outside sales representative responsible for growing and managing a designated territory in and around White Plains, NY, and parts of Connecticut. This role focuses on increasing sales for salons by utilizing manufacturer education and sales resources, while also leveraging social media to connect with beauty professionals. The DSC is expected to meet sales goals, develop customer relationships, and actively seek new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Grow the business by identifying key accounts and establishing an efficient route for customer engagement.
  • Demonstrate and assist customers in planning and implementing in-salon promotions and programs.
  • Communicate sales initiatives and collaborate with vendors to achieve corporate sales goals.
  • Respond to all communications within 24 hours.
  • Analyze accounts to determine necessary brand support and promotions.
  • Conduct in-person visits to execute sales goals and maintain customer relationships.
  • Manage administrative tasks including order entry and customer information maintenance in Salesforce.
  • Utilize social media for customer engagement and promotion of products.
  • Conduct product knowledge classes both in-person and virtually.
  • Report to the Manager on sales progress and follow-up plans.
  • Attend meetings and events, and assist with setup and dismantling of displays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with a focus on consultative selling.
  • Must reside within the assigned territory.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms for business development.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Salesforce, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle.
  • Ability to build an online community and create social connections.
  • Local travel within the territory is required, including attendance at shows and events.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with iPad is a plus.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing techniques to enhance customer engagement.
