About the position

The Outside Parts Sales Consultant at Matheny Motors is responsible for B2B sales of commercial truck parts within a designated territory. This role focuses on managing existing accounts while actively developing new business through cold calling and relationship building. The consultant is expected to meet sales quotas, represent the company professionally, and effectively utilize computer systems to manage sales activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages B2B sales of commercial truck parts for an assigned territory.
  • Maintains existing accounts and develops new accounts through extensive cold calling.
  • Represents the company in a respectful manner.
  • Meets sales quotas and prospects for new business.
  • Gathers and submits detailed business information for pricing and presents solutions to identified prospects.
  • Participates in weekly Outside Sales conference calls.
  • Identifies and discusses areas of product shortcomings and advises parts management.
  • Explores the potential of new product lines in the field.
  • Effectively prioritizes and executes tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Follows a professional dress code.
  • Effectively uses computer systems to complete daily tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred.
  • Verifiable sales performance (any industry).
  • CDK Global DMS experience highly preferred.
  • Verifiable customer service performance record and/or training required.
  • Knowledge of automotive servicing/repair required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Good sales and territory management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Automotive or trucking industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of light, medium, and heavy duty trucks a plus.
  • Proven ability to achieve sales goals.
  • Ability to hold yourself accountable and achieve goals with limited direct supervision.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Professional appearance and confident phone voice/skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Genuinely helpful attitude and friendly demeanor.
  • Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong computer and Internet skills (multiple platforms).
