About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Outreach Coordinator to join the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS). This role involves promoting the wide variety of services provided by DAAS to help individuals achieve or maintain their highest level of independence and self-sufficiency. Key responsibilities include educating and informing diverse audiences statewide about services at community events, conferences, and meetings. The position also focuses on building and maintaining rapport with internal and external networks, coordinating community resources, and creating informational materials for distribution.

Requirements

  • Skills in using a variety of computer software packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Suite, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to establish, build, and maintain rapport with diverse individuals, groups within the community, and internal and external networks.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • Ability to work independently, schedule and organize own time, and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to learn to apply and interpret applicable federal and state statutes and DES and DAAS policies and procedures.
  • Must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license.
  • Must complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • Must maintain acceptable driving records.
  • Must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, social work, sociology or closely related field and 2 years of community relations, public affairs, outreach activities or non-profit fundraising experience; OR 1 year as a Human Service Specialist 2 or higher in AZ state government.
  • Experience in public speaking and presentations is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in Adult Protective Services is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach, education, and information to a variety of individuals and organizations statewide regarding services available and provided by DAAS.
  • Prepare for and participate at conferences, community events, meetings, etc., distributing informational pamphlets, referrals for assistance, and answering general questions.
  • Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
  • Collaborate with staff and community organization groups statewide to facilitate design, development, modification, and implementation of projects and programs for new and recurring community engagements on behalf of DAAS.
  • Coordinate resources within the division and community.
  • Represent the Division at meetings with other governmental jurisdictions and before various community groups.
