About the position

The Outpatient Rehab Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Departments at Bon Secours. This position involves managing patient referrals, verifying insurance benefits, and ensuring accurate patient registration. The assistant will also support the front office team with appointment scheduling and confirmations, while maintaining high standards of customer service in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily referral work queues for the Outpatient Rehab Departments.
  • Review and update patient registration for accuracy.
  • Verify insurance benefits with all payers and notify patients of their financial responsibilities.
  • Assist the front office team with appointment calls and confirmations.
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance companies and billing information to ensure accurate patient data collection.
  • Schedule rehab services using EMR/Epic accurately.
  • Educate patients on insurance verification results and follow up on discrepancies.
  • Run cost estimators and collect point of service payments as appropriate.
  • Assist with rehab diagnosis coding and obtain medical diagnoses from physician offices.
  • Perform daily charge audits to ensure accuracy of charges.
  • Monitor and maintain assigned departmental work queues.
  • Provide excellent customer service through phone triage and appointment confirmations.
  • Perform other tasks as delegated by the Lead Scheduler or manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD 10, CPT, insurance, and medical terminology preferred.
  • Strong keyboard and computer skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and multitasking ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with EMR/Epic systems.
