About the position

As an Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at Banner MD Anderson Medical Center, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary oncology clinic team in the outpatient setting. PGY2 in oncology, Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) certification, and/or oncology experience is highly desired. Your schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8AM - 4:30PM, with rotating weekend on call coverage at Banner Gateway. Responsibilities

  • Critically evaluates the management of disease states and adjusts or recommends adjustments to therapy to improve patient medication regimens.
  • Acts as a drug information expert in area of specialty and provides detailed drug information and education to healthcare team, pharmacy, patients, and community.
  • Reviews and evaluates medication orders for appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data.
  • Applies the principles of continuous quality improvement consistent with job expectations.
  • Participates in local and system-based committees and effectively communicates to stakeholders.
  • Meets ASHP preceptor qualifications and participates as primary preceptor to residents.
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Requirements

  • A Doctorate in Pharmacy degree and completion of a PGY1 residency program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of health-system progressive clinical pharmacy experience without residency training.
  • Board certification through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (e.g. BCPS, BCOP).
  • Requires pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a PGY2 residency or PGY1 residency plus a minimum of 3 years of health system experience.
  • Board Certification in appropriate area of specialty.
  • Expert level working knowledge of principles, practices, and operations in assigned area of responsibility.
