About the position

The Outpatient Managed Care Coordinator is a per diem role responsible for ensuring accurate benefit verification and authorization for outpatient services. This position plays a crucial role in facilitating patient access to care by managing insurance-related processes and ensuring compliance with regulations and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate completion of benefit verification for new patient insurance information and authorization.
• Obtains required authorizations and/or referrals for all new outpatients scheduled by OP intake coordinators and physician admins.
• Reviews and obtains insurance co-payment information from third party payers for accuracy and communicates this information to relevant parties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 to 4 years of experience in benefit verification
• Strong knowledge and experience with insurance benefit interpretation and interacting with insurance companies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Epic and Cerner systems preferred but not required.
