About the position

The Outdoor Education Team Member position involves leading 5th to 8th graders in outdoor educational activities, including hikes and hands-on science classes, while fostering a Christian community. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about youth education and ministry, providing an opportunity to develop leadership skills and spiritual growth in a camp setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead 5th to 8th graders on hikes and instruct hands-on classes in science, wilderness survival, and leadership.
• Facilitate meals, all-camp games, campfire nights, and challenge course activities.
• Develop life skills in students and promote spiritual growth through Christian community.
• Plan and deliver lessons effectively, utilizing public speaking skills.

Requirements

• A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior.
• A high school diploma is required.
• A BS/BA/AA or higher in life science, biological science, physical science, parks & recreation, or equivalent combination of education & experience is preferred but not required.
• Previous formal or informal teaching/coaching experience, including lesson planning and public speaking.
• Physical fitness and mental fortitude to trail walk 1-4 miles/day and work longer camp days.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in outdoor education or youth ministry.
• Ability to engage and inspire youth in a camp setting.
