About the position

The job of Outdoor Education Intern is done for the purpose/s of gaining skills in all facets of residential outdoor education. This includes instructing students in outdoor science concepts; leading students in large group activities such as: singing, folk dancing, and games; training and supervising high school cabin leaders and overseeing student management for those cabin leaders; teaching in specialized facilities such as the museum of natural history, observatory, planetarium, and raptor center.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs students for the purpose of learning outdoor science concepts.
  • Directs students for the purpose of performing hands-on science and nature activities.
  • Leads students for the purpose of hiking on nature trails.
  • Directs large groups of students for the purpose of participating in activities such as folk dance and games.
  • Trains high school students for the purpose of managing cabin groups of sixth grade students.
  • Instructs large groups of students for the purpose of following dining procedures.
  • Leads songs, tells stories, performs skits for the purpose of instructing and entertaining students.
  • Plans events for the purpose of scheduling student activities.

Requirements

  • Job Related Experience is desired.
  • Some work or volunteer experience in working with children is preferred.
  • Targeted job related education that meets organization's prerequisite requirements.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree or some upper division college work is preferred.
  • Department of Justice and FBI Fingerprint Response.
