About the position

The Out Patient Services/Treatment Nurse provides essential nursing services in the Chemotherapy Room, Treatment Room, and Employee Health at GSHA. This role involves administering treatments, coordinating employee health programs, and ensuring patient safety and education. The nurse will also operate the Telemedicine program and assist with patient scheduling, contributing to a culture of safety and excellence in healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education and administer hepatitis B vaccines to employees.
  • Provide and read tuberculin skin tests for new employees.
  • Conduct and document special projects and studies involving employee health and safety.
  • Encourage preventative measures in infection control among employees, including influenza and other recommended vaccines.
  • Provide for and coordinate the Fit Testing Program for the facility.
  • Review charts, lab results, and patient screening for Chemotherapy and Treatment Room.
  • Administer medications to patients as ordered in the Chemotherapy and Treatment rooms.
  • Perform wound care, infusions, injections, nebulizer treatments, and PICC line or Port a Cath blood draws and flushing.
  • Collaborate with nurses and physicians from other clinics and hospitals.
  • Administer immunizations for staff, including Tdap, Measles, Hepatitis B, and Varicella.
  • Meet with patients and family members to inform and educate them about care.
  • Monitor for clinical needs, psychosocial, and supportive care needs.
  • Work with the Health Services Coordinator to ensure all needed tasks are completed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • North Dakota licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred.
  • Skills in communication and customer service are essential.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Chemotherapy Certification is required, training will be provided.
