About the position

Arizona Eye Specialists is seeking a compassionate and qualified Optician for their Optical Shop located in Phoenix/Scottsdale. This full-time position involves assisting patients with eyewear selection, fitting and adjusting glasses, and providing excellent customer service. The role also includes travel between clinic locations and offers opportunities for career growth within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with selecting frames and lenses based on their needs and preferences.
  • Fit and adjust eyeglasses for proper comfort and vision.
  • Perform frame repairs and minor adjustments as needed.
  • Cut and edge lenses to precise specifications.
  • Provide excellent customer service and promote eyewear sales.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform contact lens fittings and insertion/removal training.
  • Ability to transpose prescriptions.
  • Answer all patient inquiries regarding contacts; appointments, ordering, receiving and dispensing.
  • Manage inventory of contact lenses and frames.
  • Perform insurance eligibility and verification of benefits for contact fittings and materials.
  • Perform prior authorization for medically necessary lenses.
  • Obtain all financial agreements, forms, and discuss payments and collection of monies due to the practice.
  • Communicate with reps and company vendors.
  • Demonstrate high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with clinic management team, promoting a winning-attitude and displaying compassionate customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (Required).
  • Previous experience as an Optician required, with a focus on sales.
  • Proficiency in fitting and adjusting glasses and performing frame repairs.
  • Experience with lens cutting and edging.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and peers.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to obtain LDO Certification with Company assistance (Required).

Nice-to-haves

  • Current state licensure or certification by a nationally recognized Opticianry Association as a LDO (Preferred).
  • ABO & NCLE Certifications (Preferred).
