About The Position
PDS Optical is a SDVOSB Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that manufactures a very large number of eyeglasses each day. We have Optical Laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL and manage many optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. We're currently seeking an ABO Certified Optician to join our team at the Bessemer, AL VA clinic and help us continue our mission of delivering GREAT Veteran CARE. ABO Certification is preferred. Candidates without certification must obtain ABO within 6 months of hire. Exam preparation and reimbursement are provided by PDS Optical.
Requirements
- ABO Certification is not required but must be obtained within the first six months for employment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Skilled in fitting, adjusting, repairing, and selling eyewear
- Proficient with manual lensometers, pupilometers, and computer systems
- Dependable, self-motivated, and customer-focused
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with VA optical benefits and discounts is a plus
