About the position

Post Consumer Brands, a business unit of Post Holdings, Inc., is seeking an Operations Supervisor for the night shift at our facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas. This role is pivotal in overseeing the day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring that we meet our objectives related to safety, quality, customer service, productivity, efficiency, and cost. The Operations Supervisor will work under the direction of the Operations Manager and will be responsible for providing strategic and day-to-day leadership to achieve operational goals. This includes fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability among team members, while also engaging technicians in decision-making processes. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing operations employees to meet and exceed performance expectations, while adhering to company standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. This role requires effective management of finished product, packaging, raw material, and work-in-process inventories to meet production needs. The Operations Supervisor will also plan and coordinate work activities, manage employee communications, and act as a resource for personnel and production issues. In addition to managing operations facilities and equipment, the Operations Supervisor will lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing yield, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and safety. This includes implementing new operating procedures, recommending equipment changes, and developing training programs for team members. The role also involves maintaining harmonious relationships between shifts through effective communication and shift transfer meetings. The Operations Supervisor will serve as a mentor to other supervisors and team leads, and will act as a stand-in for the Operations Manager during their absence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations under the direction of the Operations Manager.
  • Achieve objectives related to safety, quality, customer service, productivity, efficiency, and cost.
  • Provide leadership and development support to direct reports and other supervisors.
  • Engage technicians in decision-making and foster a learning environment.
  • Demonstrate the need for continuous improvement and change to deliver business results.
  • Develop operations employees to meet performance expectations and conduct safety standards.
  • Manage and coordinate inventories to meet production needs and quality standards.
  • Plan and organize work activities of operations personnel and production scheduling.
  • Manage employee communications and overall accountability.
  • Consult with employees regarding personnel and production problems.
  • Ensure operations facilities and equipment are functional and sanitary.
  • Perform safety, GMP, and pre-operational audits.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts around yield, OEE, engagement, safety, and quality.
  • Implement new operating procedures and recommend equipment changes.
  • Develop and implement training programs for team members.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are understood and followed, and incidents are reported correctly.
  • Maintain harmonious relationships between shifts through effective communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Management, Science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of combined related experience, preferably in food processing/packaging.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Ability to build relationships and inspire others.
  • Mobility to take on broader assignments for additional development opportunities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the food industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).
