About The Position

Graduate Recruitment Opportunities (GRO) at Manulife John Hancock is a flagship early talent program designed to launch careers with support, structure, and opportunities for growth. The Operations Program, a key stream within GRO, is an 18-month direct-hire program for new graduates. It places participants in diverse business units across Toronto, Halifax, Waterloo, and Montreal, focusing on areas like Retirement Operations, Investment Operations, Performance & Reporting, Alternative Investment Operations, and Fund Services Operations. The program provides hands-on experience and builds foundational skills in Customer Experience, Data Analytics, and Continuous Improvement. As part of GRO, participants join a community of peers, engage in professional development, mentorship, and leadership exposure, aiming to develop future-ready operations leaders.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration or a related field, with an expected graduation in Spring 2026 from an accredited university.
  • Strategic thinking abilities.

  • Analytical skills with a passion for data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • A strong work ethic coupled with a proactive, flexible attitude and a readiness to contribute wherever needed.

  • An understanding of the financial services industry, including wealth and asset management.
  • Fully bilingual (French/English): The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French in order to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage analytical skills and critical thinking to ask insightful questions, understand business drivers and needs, and bring clarity and precision to the scope and requirements of initiatives.
  • Build and nurture positive, effective relationships to strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Apply training and knowledge effectively in areas such as data mining, analysis and visualization, process assessment, root cause analysis, prioritization, and presenting findings, with a focus on customer needs and NPS.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation of solution requirements and propose viable solutions.
  • Use strong communication skills to lead meetings and present information to all organizational levels.
  • Clearly articulate upcoming changes to prepare business partners.
  • Recommend business decisions that drive results and address customer issues.
  • Engage in daily activities, which may include valuation oversight, trade processing and reconciliation, risk oversight, vendor management, tax compliance, securities lending, financial reporting, client onboarding, shareholder record-keeping, data management, and dashboard creation, depending on the team's needs.
