About the position

This position involves shift work monitoring the LSUHSC-NO building mechanical and energy management system. The role includes making rounds to visually inspect building systems and performing repairs as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs as assigned.

Requirements

• Possession of (or ability to possess within three months of hire) an Orleans Parish 2nd class Stationary Engineer's Certificate for steam boilers.
• Possession of a minimum 2nd class Stationary Engineer's Certificate for air conditioning.
• Possession of appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990.
• Valid Class E driver's license.
• Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of building mechanical and energy management systems.
• Ability to operate, maintain, and repair building mechanical and energy management systems.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly.
• Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks, and other elevated areas.
• Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, tool boxes, etc.).
• Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges.
• Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area to avoid injuries or damage.
• Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
