About the position
The Oncology Patient Experience Representative plays a crucial role in enhancing patient interactions within the Oncology unit at Boston Children's Hospital. This part-time position focuses on providing exceptional customer service, managing patient encounters, and supporting administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations in the unit.
Responsibilities
- Providing positive and effective customer service that supports unit operations.
- Collaborating with referring providers and practices.
- Obtaining required authorizations to compile patient and staff schedules.
- Scheduling patients and supporting the patient encounter.
- Greeting and directing patients, families, and visitors.
- Monitoring daily schedule and coordinating flow with clinicians/supervisor.
- Reconciling payments and preparing deposits, providing record of transactions in Hospital systems.
- Facilitating and directing communication with Financial Counseling.
- Recording and forwarding messages, triaging calls for urgent information or services, initiating calls for emergency services.
- Providing routine clerical support as needed.
- Admin support for admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Reconciliation of patient charts during admissions and discharges.
- Updating and reconciling the Patient Monitoring System upon admission, discharges, and transfers.
Requirements
- A high school level of education, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Prior customer service or administrative experience preferred.
- The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
- The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
