About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking an Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) specializing in Medical Oncology and Hematology to join their team, supporting the Gulf Coast North Region with locations in Cypress Northwest and Woodlands North. This role can be filled at a level I, II, or Senior, depending on the candidate's experience. The position involves supporting patients dealing with cancer or related diagnoses, with care provided in-clinic or virtually via telemedicine. Responsibilities may encompass prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research, with the APP potentially serving as a direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. The role requires ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, adhering to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • Physician Assistant: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of practicing Clinical Nurse Specialist, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
  • Performs procedures and mentors/trains other providers.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Consistently incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Provides case management for patients and their families.
  • Serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
  • Provides palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
  • As a subject matter expert, promotes/provides staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hours calls.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to the community, providing education and resources as needed.
  • Likely to supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff.
  • May serve in a practice or network-wide APP leadership role.
  • May precept APP students.
  • Mentors new advanced practice providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
