About the position

The Offsite Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the preparation and management of land development projects, ensuring exceptional customer service and compliance with construction codes. This role involves supervising excavation, installation of utilities, and landscaping, while acting as a liaison between various stakeholders including municipalities and homeowner associations. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation of land at a project, including excavation, earthmoving, and installation of utilities.
  • Oversee the mass grading and installation of improvements within the right of way, including landscaping and erosion control.
  • Act as a channel of information between cities, municipalities, and homeowner associations.
  • Monitor job sites during rain and storms and assist with erosion control.
  • Review all Offsite construction bills and progress payments for accuracy, and create EPOs as needed.
  • Maintain cost control through phases of Offsite construction.
  • Schedule offsite trade move-ins, supervise progress, and mediate overlapping work problems between trades.
  • Conduct meetings with trades and consultants to review progress and improve communication.
  • Schedule inspections with city or municipal inspectors and engineering firms for surveys.
  • Conduct landscape and improvement walk-throughs for turnover to HOA or city.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Construction Certificate and/or College Degree with emphasis in construction technologies or management or equivalent experience required.
  • Five years of Land Development or Offsite Construction Management experience in the construction industry as a journeyman or management role without a degree, or two years of experience in offsite construction management with a construction management degree.
  • Knowledge of offsite construction codes and ability to reference San Diego Regional Standard Drawings, UBC, and Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Internet, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of blueprints, architectural, structural, landscape, and precise grade plans.
