About the position

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Office Engineer to be based out of Glastonbury, Connecticut office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project administration, record keeping, payment entries, correspondence, and delivering of required reports.
  • Manage and mentor Assistant Office Engineers.
  • Attend project meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Review daily inspection reports and payment quantities in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare change orders for overruns, changed conditions and additional work.
  • Review, log and coordinate with the designer to respond to Contractor's submittals, RFI's and shop drawings. Ensure that field staff have current construction documents.
  • Confirm inspector reports are accurate and reflect plans, proposals and specifications and confirm as-built sketches, quantity calculations and tracking of manpower/resources is accurate.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma
  • Minimum 11 years of experience with resident engineering and construction inspection services and at least 5 years as office engineer on CT DOT projects.
  • NICET IV Certification
  • Ability to read plans/specs and prepare written contract administration documentation.
  • Advise senior staff of potential change orders, differing field conditions and overruns.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word and Excel
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • 10 Hour OSHA safety training 30 hour OSHA safety training is a plus

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on erection/rehabilitation of structural steel and concrete
  • Experience working with MNR on traction power, communications and signals, MNR safety training is a plus
  • BS in Engineering (PE License/FE/CCM certifications are a plus)
  • 30 hour OSHA safety training is a plus
