About the position

The Office Engineer will play a crucial role in the construction of heavy civil projects, focusing on contract management, documentation, and communication with contractors. This position offers opportunities for personal and professional growth while contributing to the successful execution of construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review payment applications and perform desk audits of contractor billings.
  • Assist with shop drawing tracking and distribution.
  • Notify Contractors of new Change Orders and Time and Material work, ensuring accurate documentation on Daily Inspector's Reports.
  • Prepare and/or review change orders, estimates, and scopes for proposed change order processing.
  • Ensure regular construction photos are taken and properly filed.
  • Attend technical meetings and prepare input for monthly reports as required.
  • Maintain documentation for Contract Closeout, including Controlled Inspections and Substantial Completion.
  • Assist Environmental, Health, and Safety Professionals with site safety verifications and document concerns.
  • Track extra work, net cost work, and classified item work, ensuring contract closeouts are followed through.

Requirements

  • Substantial professional years of experience in heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Physical ability to move around an active construction site.
  • Experience with NYC DEP.
  • Proficiency with web-based construction document management platforms.
  • Working knowledge of construction scheduling and document controls software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player mentality.
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, and data analysis capabilities.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
