About the position

The Office Engineer position at Caddell involves assisting the Technical Coordinator in the review and processing of project construction submittals across all disciplines and offices. This role ensures the completeness and correctness of project submittals while reviewing for compliance with project specifications and contract requirements. The position also includes reviewing and processing Requests for Design Clarifications (RFDC) and Requests for Information (RFI), as well as other office engineering activities as directed by the Technical Coordinator. The Office Engineer will work collaboratively with procurement staff to resolve issues with nonconforming submittal packages and track the timely submission of construction documents to maintain project schedules. This position is based in an office setting in Montgomery, AL, with occasional travel required, and offers a path to full-time international field staff employment upon successful completion of 1-2 years in the home office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Technical Coordinator in the review and processing of project construction submittals.
  • Ensure completeness and correctness of project submittals while reviewing for compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.
  • Review and process RFDC and RFI and other office engineering activities at the direction of the Technical Coordinator.
  • Review construction submittal packages prepared by procurement and site staff to confirm compliance with contract documents.
  • Work collaboratively with procurement staff to resolve issues with nonconforming submittal packages.
  • Interface with Technical Coordinator and procurement staff to track and ensure timely submittal of construction submittals to maintain project schedule.
  • Assist Technical Coordinator in resolution of AE and/or Owner comments on reviewed submittal packages.
  • Assist Technical Coordinator in review and resolution of RFDC and RFI issues.
  • Assist Technical Coordinator with tracking and processing of change orders, RFP's, and REA's.
  • Interface with Administrative Assistant to ensure current updates to the office set of contract drawings and specifications, both hard copy and electronic.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma/GED and four years' experience in the construction industry required.
  • Current clearance, or the ability to obtain, a Department of Defense minimum secret security clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four-year degree in engineering, construction, architecture or management preferred.
