About The Position

This position is offered through the support of the Government of Canada-Canada Summer Jobs Program. The Office Assistant – Summer/Co-op Student provides key administrative support and ensuring smooth operations. This role includes preparing policy documents and coordinating logistics for initiatives and events. This position offers a great opportunity to develop skills in a collaborative, professional environment.

Requirements

  • Must be between 16 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • Was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year
  • Intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year
  • Is a student in post-secondary, vocational, or technical program
  • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
  • Pursuing a post-secondary education in Arts, Humanities, Journalism, Business, Communications, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with working in an office or professional work environment, or related experience.
  • Experience using computers and standard office software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form professional working alliances.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in computer systems and office software.

Responsibilities

  • Help align our policies with accreditation standards.
  • Transition older policies into an updated and standardized format.
  • Migrate documents from an old site to a new SharePoint site.
  • Support communication initiatives and events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
