About the position
The Off Shift Power House Operator plays a critical role in maintaining the operations of a cogeneration power plant. This position involves operating and maintaining various equipment and systems to ensure efficient steam and power generation, while adhering to safety and environmental standards. The operator will be responsible for monitoring systems, maintaining logs, and performing routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance of the plant.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain equipment and machinery to generate sufficient steam pressure for the cogeneration power plant.
- Monitor and operate systems including steam distribution, condensate return, and fuel management.
- Maintain logs and documentation as required by the operation.
- Perform routine maintenance on boilers, turbines, and associated equipment to ensure proper operating conditions.
- Troubleshoot and make general repairs to maintain continuity of efficient service.
- Monitor and operate waste treatment systems and respond to alarms and emissions reports.
- Conduct chemical tests and maintain boiler water chemistry for effective operation.
- Prepare equipment for modification or overhaul and return systems to service as needed.
- Coordinate with maintenance and contract personnel to support plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures during operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate from a recognized trade school with coursework in boiler operation and control.
- Minimum of two years of full-time work experience operating power and utility generation equipment.
- Ability to document previous work experience and training in industrial power generation equipment.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification from a recognized organization for operation of industrial power and utility systems generation.
- Experience with natural gas turbines and steam boilers.
