About The Position

The Oconee Memorial Emergency Nursing Specialty Tech assists Registered Nurses in providing patient care based on individualized care plans. This role involves performing basic nursing activities, conducting data collection, monitoring patient status, and ensuring a clean and safe patient environment. The position is crucial in supporting the nursing team and enhancing patient care in the emergency department.

Requirements

  • No experience required; one year of experience in Nursing Assistant, PCT, CMA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, Phlebotomist, or Medical Corpsman preferred.
  • Job-related coursework such as Nursing Assistant, PCT, CMA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Technology, or Phlebotomy preferred.
  • Licensed or certified in the field of training (Nursing Assistant, CMA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, Phlebotomy, etc.).
  • Medical corpsman military training may be accepted in lieu of education and licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care as delegated by the RN including sterile and non-sterile soaks, application of dressings, perineal care, removal of foley catheters, basic ostomy care, nasal cannula, phlebotomy, EKG's, and incentive spirometry.
  • Performs data collection including vital signs, fluid intake and output, and specimen collection, documenting all data in the medical record and informing the RN of any changes in patient status.
  • Conducts point of care testing as trained and delegated by the RN, reporting lab values to the RN.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including transporting patients, positioning, and ambulating, as well as fall prevention interventions.
  • Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.
