About the position

The Occupational Therapist provides professional Occupational Therapy services in the critical access hospital setting, including acute care, outpatient, inpatient, and long term care patients. This role involves meeting patient goals and needs while providing quality care across a variety of settings, assessing and interpreting patient evaluations and test results, and determining occupational therapy treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities

  • Meet patient goals and needs while providing quality care across a variety of settings.
  • Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results.
  • Determine occupational therapy treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and/or by prescription.
  • Reassess and modify patient treatment plans and goals appropriately.
  • Help patients develop or regain physical or mental functioning, or adjust to disability.
  • Implement programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills.
  • Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to the individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Prepare patients for return to employment by consulting with employers and determining potential workplace challenges.
  • Evaluate results and update plan care by observing, noting, and assessing patient's progress.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and departmental records.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers.
  • Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect hospital operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements.
  • Oversee daily occupational therapy operations and work cooperatively with other hospital departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Current, unencumbered Colorado Occupational Therapist license required.
  • BLS required within three (3) months of hire or transfer.
  • Previous experience working as an occupational therapist preferred.
