Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
  • Orient staff and students and assume supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor, as qualified.
  • Assess patients' needs and initiate appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
  • Work cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Observe and evaluate treatment effects and the accomplishment of short and long-term goals, recommending changes to the physician if needed.
  • Perform appropriate assessments and reassessments on each patient as per policy.
  • Conduct accurate and timely quality improvement scoring.
  • Assess patient pain and make appropriate interventions to reduce pain, contacting the physician as necessary.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in a safe environment that minimizes the likelihood of medical errors.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Washington.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
