About the position

The Occupational Therapist position is designed to provide comprehensive therapy services to patients, including evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, and implementation. The role emphasizes effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality care and documentation in accordance with health center policies.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients to obtain and interpret data necessary for treatment planning and implementation.
  • Develops treatment plans, directs, supervises, and treats patients in accordance with treatment plans using various modalities.
  • Prepares written reports of diagnostic findings, intervention techniques used, progress made, and follow-up status according to policy and procedure.
  • Consults and communicates with patients, families, and other multidisciplinary team members and contracted agencies.
  • Completes required documentation on patients and maintains departmental records in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Delegates and supervises activities of occupational therapy assistants and technicians to ensure efficient use of department resources.

Requirements

  • B.S., B.A., M.O.T., M.S., or M.A. degree required.
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Iowa required.
  • Prefer demonstrated competence in an outpatient care setting for at least one year.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintain current status.
  • Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.
