About The Position

Renue Physical Therapy is seeking dedicated Occupational Therapists to join their team in an inpatient setting. The role involves consulting with, evaluating, and treating patients of various ages and diagnoses. The primary focus is on providing effective, individualized patient care by building trust and rapport to motivate patients throughout their treatment. A successful candidate will demonstrate patient-centered care through communication, teamwork, and compassion, along with integrity, character, and honesty, while maintaining a positive environment for patients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan
  • Current CPR certification
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy (Masters and Bachelors accepted) from an accredited university/OT program
  • Demonstrated experience using computer applications, including electronic medical records, word processing, and email.
  • Experience completing the patient care process including evaluation, assessment, intervention, re-assessment, revision and outcomes reporting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency finding, evaluating, interpreting and applying current patient care research literature.
  • Experience analyzing subjective reports and quantitative data to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, patients and the general public.
  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance as part of a team.
  • Capable of coordinating efforts and collaborating with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to establish and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Capable of explaining complex issues in a concise manner to patients and co-workers.
  • Communicate clearly and distinctly when answering phones.
  • Communicate with people of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret professional level documents written using advanced medical terminology in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise reports and correspondence at a professional level.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continued treatment plans for current swing bed patients.
  • Perform initial evaluations for patients arriving late on Friday or early on Saturday.
  • Consult with patients to understand their physical condition.
  • Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results.
  • Develop treatment plans using various techniques based on age, cultural, and rehabilitative needs.
  • Develop rapport and trust with patients to encourage and motivate them.
  • Exercise independent judgment to direct and provide individualized patient care.
  • Communicate and coordinate with physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Assist clients in exercises to minimize injury and promote fitness.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify exercises as needed.
  • Educate and counsel patients and families regarding the recovery process, challenges, home exercises, injury prevention, ergonomics, and other care needs.
  • Evaluate the use and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices, recommending adjustments.
  • Adhere to company policies and federal and Michigan state regulations.
  • Provide thorough, timely, professional, and consistent patient care documentation through the EMR.
  • Participate in weekly interdisciplinary (IDT) Team meetings.
  • Participate in Weekday Swing Bed Meetings/Huddles (can be done remotely).
  • Forward Speech Language Pathology (SLP) notifications to appropriate team members.
  • Complete all requirements to maintain an up-to-date occupational therapy license, including continuing education.
  • Assist administrative staff with billing and reporting inquiries.
  • Communicate positively, appropriately, and in a timely fashion with all parties.
  • Direct and oversee services provided by PTA.
