About the position

The O.R. Assistant II plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team by anticipating the needs of the operative schedule and providing necessary clinical support. This entry-level position involves maintaining and stocking core areas, preparing cases, and transporting patients for surgery, all while adhering to the values of integrity, patient-centered care, respect, accountability, and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the Operative Schedule under the direction of the Holding Area R.N.
• Provides stretchers and beds with O2 and monitors for postoperative patient transportation.
• Practices good guest relations and communicates effectively with patients and others.
• Maintains educational records and responds appropriately to constructive criticism.
• Responds to pages and requests in a timely manner, providing necessary equipment to assigned ORs.
• Reviews daily assignments and remains flexible with changes.
• Manages time effectively to provide continuity of care and utilizes supplies cost-effectively.
• Communicates shortages, needed repairs, and conflicts to the nurse manager and team members.
• Understands and practices sterile technique and demonstrates technical competence in primary duties.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent education.
• Ability to gain knowledge of sterile techniques within 60 days of hire.
• Proficiency in locating equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Competency in transporting patients and handling medical gas cylinders.
• Ability to select proper instruments and supplies based on physician preference codes.
• Proficiency in identifying sterile supplies from unsterile.

Benefits
