About the position

The position involves performing various tasks related to food service, including working in the dish room, preparing and assembling patient trays, and delivering or picking up food carts. The role also includes serving food in the cafeteria and operating the cash register.

Responsibilities

  • Dish machine washing pots & pans
  • Assembling food for patients
  • Delivering food to patients
  • Knowledge of patient diets
  • Stocking areas
  • Cleaning
  • Serving customers in the cafe
  • Operating cash register
  • Preparing all menu items using established departmental policies and procedures
  • Assuring presentation of all menu items adheres to established standards
  • Assuring all menu items are prepared per established policies and procedures
  • Assisting with the training of new employees
  • Providing services to cafeteria customers in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Serving food in proper pre-determined portion sizes
  • Serving food that is the correct serving temperature and quality
  • Reporting substandard quality food to the food and nutrition manager and properly discarding it
  • Setting up, maintaining and breaking down salad bar
  • Receiving deliveries when assigned
  • Cleaning cafeteria including serving area continually
  • Maintaining appearance of all equipment and serving counters

Requirements

  • Knowledge of temperature danger zone for hot and cold foods
  • Ability to properly clean and sanitize work areas
  • Knowledge of proper procedure to label and date open food items
