About the position

The Nutrition Services Production Associate plays a vital role in the Nampa School District by ensuring the safe and efficient operation of kitchen services. This position involves preparing and serving meals to students and staff while adhering to USDA regulations and maintaining food safety standards. The associate will also be responsible for various administrative tasks related to meal documentation and financial transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all kitchen equipment in a safe and correct manner
  • Ensures that all activities conform to District, State Dept of Ed., and USDA standards
  • Responds to menu changes effectively and completes tasks as assigned
  • Attends meetings and workshops assigned by the Nutrition Services Director
  • Prepares food items to be served in given quantities and at a stated time
  • Reads and follows recipes and production records
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment properly
  • Follows standardized recipes carefully, weights and measures food ingredients accurately
  • Maintains clean work area and follows proper food handling to maintain food quality and ensure food safety
  • Serves meals to adults and students through serving line during service hours following the USDA regulations
  • Ensures students have been served all the essential meal components of a reimbursable school lunch or breakfast
  • Maintains District's Charge Policy, including proper notices to families
  • Responsible for charging the correct price for food and/or meals; making accurate change, and depositing all monies collected daily as assigned
  • Completes daily USDA required paperwork including but not limited as assigned: Meal Count and FS4 Forms for all programs, and program documentation
  • Responsible for keeping an accurate roster of students participating in the lunch program
  • Operates point of sale terminal
  • Supports the philosophy and mission of the Nampa School District and the Child Nutrition Department
  • Ensure reliable transportation to travel between various locations throughout the day
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and nutrition service experience preferred
  • SNA Certification Level 1 or willing to obtain
  • USDA Required Professional Standards, minimum of 6 hours of continuing education/training yearly or willing to obtain
  • Hold a current and valid Driver's license
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Works well with students, staff and the public
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and/or employees of the district
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
