About the position

The Nursing Technician I plays a crucial role in supporting Registered Nurses by observing and documenting patient conditions. This position involves assisting patients with daily living tasks and ensuring their comfort and safety under close supervision, contributing to their recovery and overall care plan.

Responsibilities

  • Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility to aid recovery.
  • Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination to anticipate needs.
  • Admits, transfers, and discharges patients according to the care plan.
  • Assists with clinical procedures such as monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKGs, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs.
  • Maintains unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Checks that fall-risk patients have appropriate safety measures in place.
  • Documents all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain patient history.
  • Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations for efficient collaboration.
  • Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR.
  • Nurse Aide Certification required.
  • BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider required.
