About the position

The Nursing Staffing Coordinator at St. Francis Medical Center is responsible for providing staffing and scheduling support for various departments within the hospital. This role involves collaborating with the Chief Nursing Officer and department leadership to create and revise schedules, ensuring that staffing needs are met efficiently and effectively. The coordinator will also participate in staffing meetings, forecast staffing needs, and manage agency personnel requests, all while maintaining compliance and cost-effectiveness in staffing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide staffing and scheduling support for assigned departments.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer and Department Leadership to create and revise department schedules.
  • Meet schedule posting deadlines according to Hospital policy or Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Schedule staff in a productive and cost-effective manner using organizational staffing strategies.
  • Evaluate and revise daily staffing needs, replacing personnel as necessary due to absences.
  • Obtain daily staffing needs from assigned departments through active rounding.
  • Participate in Hospital position control meetings to review schedules and staffing reports.
  • Forecast staffing needs to avoid emergencies in staffing.
  • Support the review and approval process for requesting supplemental agency personnel.
  • Review contracted labor candidates and submit qualified candidates for placement decisions.
  • Update agency candidate orders in Vendor Management System (VMS).
  • Ensure compliance files for incoming agency personnel are complete in the VMS.
  • Reconcile VMS invoices for hours and charges with the Finance department.
  • Establish a pattern of agency reduction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
