About the position

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) for Perinatal is a registered nurse responsible for overseeing education, competency, training, and professional development for nursing staff in the Perinatal area within the UCLA Health system. This role focuses on delivering educational programs, promoting evidence-based nursing practices, and collaborating with nursing leadership to enhance patient care through skill acquisition and clinical inquiry.

Responsibilities

• Oversee required education, competency, training, and professional development for Perinatal nursing staff.
• Deliver clinician education and professional/leadership development programs.
• Develop and implement assessment tools and systems for nursing education.
• Promote excellence in patient care through evidence-based nursing practice.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership to assess educational needs and secure resources.
• Work across Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Centers.

Requirements

• Current CA RN license is required.
• BSN is required; MSN in Nursing Education or commitment to enroll in MSN in Nursing Education is required.
• Thorough knowledge of nursing professional development practices and issues is required.
• 3 years of recent acute care experience is required.
• 5 years of recent perinatal experience is required.
• High-Risk Labor and Delivery experience is highly desired.
• Strong interpersonal skills to provide education and develop positive relationships with nursing staff and leadership.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in clinical inquiry and evidence-based practice.
