About The Position

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is a 1,045-bed facility located in the Texas Medical Center. As a joint venture with Baylor College of Medicine, it is an internationally recognized leader in research and clinical excellence, with breakthroughs in cardiovascular care, neuroscience, oncology, and transplantation. The hospital houses the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is nationally accredited and NCI-designated. As a Nursing Manager, you will be a dynamic leader, guiding and empowering the nursing team to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care through continuous growth and operational excellence. You will lead and mentor Registered Nurses, oversee clinical operations, and advocate for patient and team needs, driving professional development and achieving unit goals. Success in this role requires accountability, confidence, and superior communication skills. You will skillfully navigate challenges, ensuring individual performance and overall unit success. You will support and actualize the Division of Nursing philosophy and goals by assuming leadership in program development and implementation. Staff will be developed to assume leadership roles through role modeling and facilitating participation in shared governance. You will facilitate development and implementation of solutions to problems. You will develop and implement effective communication channels to provide information to all staff members, holding at least one unit meeting per month with posted minutes and notices. You will direct and participate in the orientation of new employees and evaluate programs affecting employees. You will have an identified council structure with an elected Staff Nurse Professional Practice Council representative. You will conduct unit council meetings monthly, incorporating new knowledge and skills to meet the changing needs of patients, families, employees, and the institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Of Science Nursing and 3 years leadership experience, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: TX, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days
