About the position

The Nursing Lecturer position at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) is a part-time role focused on teaching pre-licensure Nursing Science classes in both clinical settings and campus skills labs. The successful candidate will engage in various responsibilities including maintaining student records, coordinating clinical instruction, and participating in curriculum development. This role emphasizes a commitment to student participation, collaboration, and excellence in teaching within a diverse and multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and teach pre-licensure Nursing Science classes in clinical settings and campus skills labs.
  • Maintain accurate student records and clinical grades.
  • Coordinate clinical instruction with other faculty and clinical personnel.
  • Maintain communications between the University and clinical agencies, including participation in annual summation meetings.
  • Participate in curriculum development and accreditation activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to remain current in subject matter and effective instruction techniques.
  • Hold teaching and office hours, which may include day, evening, and weekend classes/clinical labs.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited institution, including courses in nursing education and a PHN certificate.
  • Possession of, or eligibility for California RN licensure.
  • At least one year of experience teaching courses related to Community/Public Health or similar nursing courses.
  • At least two years of continuous full-time experience in direct patient care practice as an RN in Public or Community Health.
  • At least one year of continuous full-time experience in Community/Public Health.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to teach in two content areas, preferably Community/Public Health and medical surgical.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
  • Flexibility in teaching assignments.
  • Experience using multiple teaching modalities for a diverse student population.
  • Willingness to teach during summer sessions and on weekends.
